The Next Installment of Batman Starts Filming in Newark, New Jersey

Hey Batman fans! If you haven't heard, the city of Gothom will come alive in Newark, New Jersey tomorrow.

The Dark Knight Rises movie, the third installment of Batman and which is also being said the final installment, will be filmed for two days: Thursday, Nov. 3rd and Friday Nov. 4th, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as they will be shooting at City Hall in Newark.

And I missed my opportunity to be a movie star and be featured as an extra while they were casting them since the summer for this next Batman movie. And no experience was necessary.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in theaters July 20, 2012 and started filming back in May. The movie stars Christian Bale returning as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.

Most of the filming will be done inside City Hall or in the underground Military Park Station of Newark Light Rail. Last Friday, The Dark Knight Rises was filmed in New York City.

Five streets will also be blocked off in Newark just for cars on set to be parked there. I guess for the Batmobile!

NJ.com has reported, to expect commuter chaos this week during the filming.

"Raymond Boulevard will be closed intermittently between Mulberry and Broad streets, which will result in major delays on surrounding roads, including McCarter Highway, Market, Broad, Mulberry, Halsey and Washington streets, and University.

Bus traffic will be rerouted off the closed stretch of Raymond and onto Market, with a dedicated bus lane temporarily set up on Market Street. Because of filming at Military Park Station, the bulk of Newark Light Rail will be shut down both days — specifically between Newark Penn Station and Orange Street Station, and between Newark Penn Station and Broad Street Station. There will be substitute bus service available."

Keep your eyes locked for signs that announce filming for "Magnus Rex"  the "working title" of the film, but really a code name for the Batman production. Everybody already knows about Batman coming to town anyway.

Well, I may just pass through Newark tomorrow and try and catch a glimpse of the action.

Cadillac Records, New Jersey Drive, Eminem's music video "Not Afraid" and The Sopranos are other notable filmings in Newark, New Jersey.
