I don't watch a lot of the Olympics events but one event I must watch is women's gymnastics... very entertaining.

Known as the "Fab Five," these ladies won the U.S. their first Olympic gold medal earlier today in women's gymnastics since 1996 while they twirled and flipped on the uneven bars, the balance beams and more.
The Fab Five consists of: Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney. Their score of 183.596 was five points better than Russia's.

Also, a special spotlight goes out to Gabby Douglas who has become a household name overnight. This 16-year-old gymnast is the first African-American female to make the U.S. Olympic team since Dominique Dawes back in 1996.

Gabby Douglas

Tune in to the Olympic games on Thursday as she goes for the gold in the individual competition.  If Gabby takes home a medal in the all-around or individual competition, she will be the first African-American girl to do so.

Douglas has been the subject of much media attention lately and was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the rest of the USA Women's Olympic Gymnastics team on the July 18, 2012 issue of Olympic Preview.

This marked the first time an entire Olympic gymnastics team had been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Big ups to all these little ladies and congrats!
