Rihanna tweeted her excitement on Twitter and said:
"Wait!!!!! What the F***?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it."
She later added: "I'm legit crying like a p**** right now!! #UNAPOLOGETIC"
According to reports, Rihanna's seventh studio album Unapologetic sold 238,000 copies in its first week, this surpassed her 2010 album Loud which sold 207,000 copies in its debut week.
