Janay Rice spoke out about "becoming the face of domestic violence" when a video surveillance tape was released in September showing her husband (then fian) NFL player Ray Rice (currently a free agent) knocking her out cold and then dragging her unconscious body out of a casino elevator in Atlantic City.

Janay and her mother Candy Palmer sat down with Today host Matt Lauer to talk about that night and the media's take on everything. Janay cried at times during the interview and wiped her eyes. She said she was angry and hurt by her husband's violence, but it also hurt to see his career pulled out from under him.

Janay also noted there was no former domestic violence before this incident:

"Ray knows me, and there's no way. He knows what he would have to deal with. ... I'm not going to sit there in silence and let something happen to me. And God forbid, in front of my child, just let it happen? There's no way."

Janay also noted that she has not seen the second, more graphic tape, explaining, "I refuse. I'm not going to let the public bring me back there."
So to sum up this interview, Janay is basically saying everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect. She said the media has caused her pain and she will stand by her husband after everything that has happened.

"He apologized to me more than once," she said. "Countless amounts of times. I'm sitting there next to him, so I wouldn't be sitting there next to him if I wasn't the first person to get an apology. There's no way. But the whole thing was awkward. We were just doing what we had to do to get it over and done with."

Today will air the second part of this interview with Janay Rice tomorrow (Dec. 2), including a portion of the interview where Ray Rice speaks. Make sure to check back on Ooooooo La La! for an updated post.
