Chris Brown details the night he assaulted Rihanna in new documentary: 'That's going to haunt me forever'

Chris Brown talks about the night when he assaulted Rihanna in his new documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life. The 28-year-old singer said that they had been having a violent argument about another woman when he had "really hit her" and bit her arm.

In the documentary, Chris goes into great detail about the early days of their romance. He says he was 15 when they met for the first time at a radio show in New York City. He describes the early days of their relationship as a "fairytale."

Things  in their relationship started to take a turn for the worse when he admitted to sleeping with someone who he once worked with before he and Rihanna started dating, after he previously denied it. "She hated me. After that, I tried everything. She didn't care, she just didn't trust me after that. From there, it just went downhill because it would be fights, it would be verbal fights, physical fights as well," he said.

"I still love Rihanna, but I'm just going to be honest—we would fight each other, she would hit me, I would hit her, but it never was OK. It was always a point to where we talk about it like, ‘What the f*ck are we doing?'"

According to Chris, the assault began at a pre-Grammys party in 2009 when a woman who Chris had admitted to sleeping with before he started dating Rihanna, turned up at the same party. This upset Rihanna and she burst into tears. Chris initially managed to calm her down, but on the way home, after a few drinks, things escalated.

"I remember she was trying to kick me. It was just her being upset. But then I really hit her. With a closed fist, like I punched her and it busted her lip. And when I saw it I was in shock. Why the hell did I hit her?" ... "From there, she just spit in my face, spit blood in my face, so it enraged me even more. It was a real fight in a car."

Chris says he pulled over and Rihanna drove home on her own. Of the leaked police picture that showed her injuries, he said:

"I look back at that picture and I'm like: 'That's not me, bro. I hate it to this day. That's going to haunt me forever."
