Mathew Knowles says Beyonce wouldn't be as famous if she had darker skin

Beyonce's papi is justa running his mouth to promote his new book!

Mathew Knowles says his daughter, Beyonce, wouldn't be as popular if she had darker skin.

Mathew, who is the former manager of Destiny's Child, recently spoke to Ebony about his new book, "Racism From The Eyes Of A Child." He also admitted that when he was a young man, deeply ingrained colorism led him to only date white or light-skinned black women who appeared white. He said, he thought his ex wife, Tina Knowles, was white when they first met!

"When I was growing up, my mother used to say, 'Don’t ever bring no nappy-head Black girl to my house.' In the deep South in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, the shade of your Blackness was considered important. So I, unfortunately, grew up hearing that message."

Lawd!

While talking to Ebony, Mathew said the biggest black female stars all had lighter skin.

He went off about race in the music biz, saying "When it comes to Black females, who are the people who get their music played on pop radio? Mariah CareyRihanna, the female rapper Nicki Minaj, my kids."
