The 2012 BET Awards Nominee List is Announced; Beyonce, Jay-Z and Kanye West Lead the Pack

The nominees for the BET Awards 2012 were announced last night on 106 & Park and it looks like The Roc is taking over. Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyonce lead the pack of nominees. Kanye has seven, Beyonce has six and Jay-Z follows with five.

Avengers star Samuel L. Jackson "the billion dollar man in the box office" will host this years awards show which will take place in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium.

Samuel L. Jackson is a huge actor but seems so dry to be a host, lol... in my opinion.

In the past BET has had comedians like Mo'Nique, Will Smith, Steve Harvey, Jaime Foxx and Kevin Hart host the show so Samuel L. Jackson just seems like a total left turn.

Set to perform at this years awards are Chris Brown, who just blazed the stage at the Billboard Awards and Nicki Minaj. They are the first performers revealed so far.

For 'Best Female Hip Hop Artist' of course Nicki Minaj is nominated and back in the category this year is Trina.

Last year, Trina didn't make the category and she tweeted "f*ck BET" after the nominees were announced and she saw she wasn't on it. So welcome back to the category Trina!

The 'Video of the Year' category was so rigged - Beyonce is nominated twice for "Countdown" and "Love on Top," Jay-Z and Kanye West are nominated twice for "Ni**as in Paris" and "Otis"  and Usher is nominated for "Climax."

Beyonce and Jay-Z both are nominated twice in this category. Terrance jokingly said, "... the winner is Blue Ivy."

As much as I like Jay and Kanye's songs off of Watch the Throne, in my opinion none of those videos are 'Video of the Year' worthy.

"Ni**as in Paris" wasn't even a real video but just video footage of Jay and Kanye from one of their stops during the Watch the Throne tour!

The Cadillac Lifetime Achievement honor will go to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

Frankie Beverly made an appearance on yesterdays 106 & Park and spoke out about being nominated for a 'Lifetime Achievement' award:

"It's a humbling experience, we've been around ahwile and it's just a wonderful experience. We never thought we would get this thing so we're here now..."

Frankie wasn't shy about telling his age and said he's 65-years-old. He said it is very moving to have his music still transcend into different generations.

Melanie Fiona celebrated her nomination and she stopped by as well to performe "4 AM." She is nominated for 'Best Female R&B Artist.'

Watch Melanie perform here: yardie aka Mr. World Premiere: Melanie Fiona - 4 AM (106 & Park Live)

The BET awards go down July 1st at 8 p.m.
