2012 MTV Movie Awards: 'The Hunger Games' Cleans House, Highlights and New 'The Dark Knight Rises' Footage

2012 MTV Movie Awards Nominees: Complete List » Gossip/MTV Movie Awards

The 2012 Movie Awards kicked off earlier, live from Universal City in California. It came as no shocker that Hunger Games ruled this year and took home the most golden popcorn... bye bye to the days when Twilight and Harry Potter ruled the show.

This years host, Russell Brand - who I think is so corny - made a couple celeb jokes, one about Justin Bieber's recent tackle with the pappazzari and he also mentioned that the last time he was on the MTV Awards show he married someone (Katy Perry)....

"... I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for my next wife."

Charlie Sheen made his way out on the stage to induct this years controversial party movie "Project X" into MTV's "Instant Cult Classics." He said, "Finally a movie that captures what goes on in my head 24 hours a day."

"A movie I really feel qualified to talk about." He continued to say, "Lets face it, my whole life has been a party movie."

Sheen joked with someone in the audience who yelled out his name as he responded, "I'm right here and I know my name."

#MovieAwards Red Carpet: Kristen Stewart looks AMAZING, no?

A party movie basics are: beer, babes, more beer, party fouls and destruction = The Charlie Sheen stamp of approval.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 did win the "Best Kiss" award for the third year in a row.

Kristen Stewart accepted the award by herself because Robert Pattinson wasn't in attendance.

Kristen called Taylor Lautner to help her out - who was in the audience, but didn't go on stage - then she joked that she's better by herself and  kissed herself.

With Robert not being there, it saved the awkward moment when Twilight wins the "Best Kiss" category. These two never kiss anyway after accepting the award! Booo!

Jennifer Anniston wins a golden popcorn
for playing a horrible boss
Jennifer Aniston won this years first-ever "Best Onscreen Dirtbag" award and Emma Stone won the first annual "Trailblazer Award."

Musical Acts:

Fun. opened this years awards show and sung their hit "We Are Young" with Janelle Monae and Wiz Khalifa performed "Work Hard, Play Hard."

Johnny Depp received this years MTV "Generation Award" and performed with The Black Keys.

Batman:

Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon-Levitt presented brand new never-before-seen footage from the upcoming final Batman installment, Christopher Nolan's conclusion  to the trilogy.

Christopher Nolan came out to join the cast and said he's been working on the story for about nine years and he thinks Bruce Wayne's story is one of the greatest stories.

"Every great story demands a great ending and The Dark Knight Rises is our best possible attempt to put a great ending to this story on screen," he said.

He also said they're almost finished with the movie, but not quite and this trailer is something "to wet our appetite." He introduced the clip below:

Jodie Foster came out to reveal the nominees and winner of the last category of the night, "Movie of the Year" and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I took home the prize beating out Bridesmaids, The Help, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and The Hunger Games.

I think this years MTV Movie Awards was okay, nothing out of the ordinary or bizarre happened. I look forward to next years MTV Movie Awards as it should be a battle of the superhero's with The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers out this year.
