'American Idol' Runner-Up La'Porsha Renae Still Gets A Record Deal After Finale

La'Porsha Renae may have come in second place on Thursday night during the season 15 American Idol finale, but this soul singer still walked away a true winner.

Last night, Idol crowned its final winner, country singer Trent Harmon. He will embark on his music career signed to 19/Big Machine Records, according to reports.

And, runner-up La'Porsha Renae, who was definitely a fan favorite, will also join the Universal Music Group family, signing with 19/Big Machine Motown Records.

"Because of the overwhelming fan demand and success of the farewell season of American Idol, we have made the decision to sign both the winner, Trent Harmon, and runner-up, La'Porsha Renae, to exclusive recording agreements," Big Machine Label Group founder and CEO Scott Borchetta confirmed with Billboard
"I can't think of a better way to bring this American institution to a close. Everyone at the Big Machine Label Group, the Universal Music Group and Motown Records are so thrilled with the outcome and can't wait to get to work."

Plus, we already know, you don't exactly need to win American Idol to have a successful career in the music industry. Look at Jennifer Hudson... perhaps the most successful of all the Idol contestants, and she didn't even win her season.
