Nicki Minaj defends her convicted sex offender boyfriend

Nicki Minaj has officially confirmed her new romantic relationship with a dude named Kenny Petty. Kenny has been accused of multiple crimes, it's also said he has served prison time for killing a man, and he's a registered sex offender who was convicted of attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl when he was younger.

Despite this man's questionable past and all of the criticism surrounding this, Nicki is proud to show off her new boo.

The Barbz' leader posted a number of pictures and video clips showing off her new love. She also took time to address the rape situation in the comments section under one of the pictures of herself and Kenny.

Nicki wrote, "He was 15, she was a relationship. But go awf, Internet. y'all can't run my life. Y'all can't even run you own life."

Well then! I guess she told us, hunh?!

I thought rape is rape no matter how old you are, but go awf, Nicki!

I'm honestly not even surprised Nicki is with someone like this when she has cosigned rapper Tekashi 69 who is a sex offender, and lets not even get on the subject about her brother Jelani Maraj, who was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child.

But, hey, that's her relationship, soooo... do you, boo boo!

Accomplish these 10 goals before the end of the year

How are you feeling about 2018 so far?

The end of the year is near - are you down for a goal setting challenge? Lets finish out the year strong with knocking out some goals!

First, we should reflect on this year and think about all of the wonderful things we accomplished. Were there any unexpected lessons you learned this year? Is there anything you would have done differently so you know not to do that same thing next year?

Check out my list of goals you can accomplish by the end of this year and see which ones need to be checked off your list.

1) Update your resume

I legit just did this! I realized I haven't updated my resume and LinkedIn since last year and just in that short amount of time, things have changed for me and some updates were needed. It's always good to keep your resume, portfolio and professional sites updated and polished because you just never know when the perfect opportunity might come around and you'll need to be ready!

2) Organize and clean

Clean out and organize that closet, sock drawer, garage or whatever project you've been pushing to the side. I tend to set an entire cleaning day to the side from time to time where I dedicate most of the day (with breaks in between) to cleaning and getting ish down within the house. If you can't give up an entire day in your busy schedule, then set aside an hour or two, and I guarantee you'll be happy with the progress you make.

3) Get to that hobby/personal goal!

Just like finding the time to clean can be difficult, well, so is scheduling time to work on doing the things we love to do. Whether you're looking for time to write a book, journaling, blogging, drawing, making crafts, designing a website, launching a new business or whatever it is you love doing - just do it! Even if you have to sacrifice some TV time (I know it's hard to miss out on shows), but make it a priority to do the things you love to do. That book isn't going to write itself!

4) Check up on family and friends

We all have busy schedules and sometimes time can slip away from us. We may think: "oh, I forgot to call so and so... I'll call them tomorrow!" ... and then tomorrow turns into next week, next week turns into next month, and so on. Put some time to the side to catch up with your loved ones. Not only will they feel better after knowing you checked up on them, but you'll feel better knowing that you're keeping in touch with the people who matter to you the most.

5) Give back

Do you have old clothes piling up in your house? Don't just throw them out, donate them to Goodwill, The Salvation Army, or any other charity of your choice. Feel free to start your own charity to give back to those in need or contribute to someone's GoFundMe, give a helping hand to someone in need, pay it forward, volunteer in your local community or to a cause that you're passionate about, etc. Remember, giving back benefits everyone!

6) Update your social media accounts

When is the last time you checked those privacy settings on Facebook? When is the last time you've updated your LinkedIn? If you can't even remember the answer to that, then you may want to check that out now. Privacy settings tend to change on social media. Double check and make sure everything is in order. Check your DM's and inboxes and actually engage and respond back to people on your timeline. Also, it's just as important to clean up your friends list, if need be. Block out toxic people and anyone who you feel doesn't need to be on your page anymore. No bad energy over this way!

7) Relax, self care, repeat

Schedule a beauty day for yourself and relax! Now, this doesn't mean you have to go to the spa and schedule an appointment (unless yo want to, of course). This also can mean, giving yourself an extra hour to wax, exfoliate, do a beauty mask, soak in a bubble bath, etc. Making time for yourself should be the #1 thing on your list of things to do because if you're not right and healthy, how can you check on others and kick ass in life. It starts with taking care of YOU first.

8) Exercise

As I stated in point #7, your health comes first, and this includes engaging in a regular exercise routine which will benefit you physically as well as mentally.

9) Create a budget and check your credit score

This is something I personally need to work on. Next year, I will be focused on raising my credit score, paying off things, and contributing more to my savings account.

10) Create a plan for next year

I'm always thinking ahead and you should too! Create a list of short and long term goals. Really take the time to think about the personal and professional goals you want to achieve. Write them down and keep your list somewhere handy where you can view it often. This will serve as your reminder to get it done.

Find a friend with similar goals and hold each other accountable on reaching those set goals. I know whenever I write things down and speak it into existence, the goals get accomplished!

What are some of the goals that you
really want to accomplish next year?

Diddy pays emotional tribute to Kim Porter: 'We were more than soulmates'

After three days since news broke that model Kim Porter was found dead in her home at the age of 47 years old, her ex Diddy has finally spoken out about her passing.

Kim was found dead in her Toluca Lake home on Thursday (Nov. 15) morning, the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office said in a statement, according to CNN.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Kim wasn’t feeling well and went to bed early on Wednesday night. When family couldn’t wake her on Thursday the paramedics were called. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kim was reportedly taking Saline and vitamins to battle what was thought to be the flu or pneumonia, but authorities are also checking to see if she may have contracted a disease during a recent trip to Africa, according to Extra.

Kim and Diddy were a couple for more than a decade until 2007. They had twin daughters and a son together. She also had a son from a previous relationship. She maintained a close friendship with Diddy after their split.

Diddy paid tribute to Kim on his Instagram page with a video and he wrote:

"For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much. Today I’m going to pay tribute to you, I’m going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship. We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER SHIT!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love."

Mikki Taylor on the importance of finding peace, purpose and self-love

Last week, I attended Mikki Taylor's event and book signing in Jersey City, NJ. If you don't know who Mikki is, she's the Editor-at-Large for Essence magazine, and she's an incredible author, beauty maven and motivational speaker. She discussed her latest book Editor in Chic and inspired a room full of us bosses who are full of dreams, goals and big plans.

I shared some of my notes from Mikki's talk in my free blog newsletter, La La's Insider, and I received a lot of positive feedback from it. So, I figured I would also share the notes on my website to reach an even wider audience.

5 points for self-examination

1) Know Your Value
Self-perception defines you. Don't let others define who you are and stop comparing yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of all joy.
*Know that your self-worth is non-negotiable. And, may you wake up everyday excited to be YOU.
2) Treasure Your Vision Space
Know that your mind is your command center. Be careful with what you take in, what enters in your mind, and what you accept as facts. Do, however, nurture what you want to grow. And remember, weaknesses are not meant to make you feel bad, weaknesses help you grow.
*You don't want to go through you want to grow through.
Get out of your comfort zone and welcome challenges. It's at the moment when things get uncomfortable in your life is when you know changes are happening. Embrace it!
3) Honor Your Temple
Always manage your health and well-being. Your phone has a 'do not disturb' setting, do you? Make self managing choices for your mind, body and spirit. Make time to take a nice bubble bath instead of racing in and out of the shower, get that massage (and not just on special occasions), make time for YOU, and learn to say NO! (I wrote a newsletter on the power of saying NO, read it here if you missed it)
*Set boundaries before life's overload sets them for you.
4) Establish Your Celebration Circle
Your greatness was not designed to operate in isolation. A strong support system is essential. You cannot afford to be at the top of your game and be lonely. You can't be a successful queen without surrounding yourself with a tribe who wants to see you win. You need a true celebration circle!
5) Master Your Purpose With Distinction And Brand You
You were created to do more than just labor. What have you been created to do? What's your unique gift? The success that rests on your shoulders, requires you to be ready! Know that vision without execution is hallucination.
When you go to a movie theater or a concert and there is reserved seating you don't expect anyone to be in your chair because that space is reserved for you, right? Well, God has reserved seating just for you and your talents. Design your empire and bless others with your knowledge.
*Be wholly engaged in your life and stop passing through. This is your life and you have to own it!
I hope you enjoyed Mikki's tips!
