2011 American Music Awards: Recap and Winners

Opening this years American Music Awards was the ever so bootyful...Ms. Nicki Minaj and David Guetta performing to "Turn Me On."

Nicki was her normal crazy self, dressed out in a robotic, Madonna type outfit.

The camera even caught a glimpse of Taylor Swift in the audience rapping along to Nicki's lyrics as she performed her second song "Super Bass."

And I like Nicki BUTTTT she needs to stick to rapping, singing is not her forte.

Justin Bieber performed songs from his new holiday album Under the Mistletoe. No worries of baby daddy drama here.

Up next, 50 Cent introduced Chris Brown as the main event. Chris sung his slow ballet "All Back" then broke out dancing and flipping to "Say It With Me."

I was excited to see the original American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson perform, I love her voice. And honey got some curves on her, she was rocking that shiny red dress, singing to "Mr. Know It All."

Ludacris came out and rocked the stage to join Enrique Iglesias, performing to their song "Tonight."

Did anybody else think of this: Recently divorced couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were in the building. I'm not saying "awkkkwarddd" because they do have children together and have to be in each others lives, but just a note. When Jennifer started off singing her slower song "Until it Beats No More," I was like oh my gosh, she is going to have another break down!

But great acting, she fooled us, took off some clothes and quickly got right into performing to "Papi." Then she took off more clothing, reveaing a beaded one-piece outfit and closed out her performance with "On the Floor."

J Lo shook her newly single tush on Pitbull as he rapped the lyrics, "back it up like a Tonka trunk." And she did. Smashing performance J Lo!

And Pitbull is cool with the ex-hubby Marc Anthony...they both performed to "Rain Over Me" after J Lo. And Lil' Jon was on the stage too, where the hell has this guy been?

Mary J. Blige rocked it out, bringing her classic soulful edge to the stage singing "Mr. Wrong" and she also mentioned the late, great Heavy D at the end of her performance.

I enjoyed watching Maroon 5 and Christina Alguilera singing to "Move Like Jagger."

And is Christina pregnant again? She had a little belly action going on which was not hard to miss in that tight white dress she was wearing.

Drake performed his hits, "They Know" and I really his music but as an entertainer Drake is not the best.

Katy Perry sung her new song, "The One That Got Away" for the first time on TV.  She won a special award of achievement for being the first female to have five singles on one album.

Below is the recent video for Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away."

Towards the end of the show, J Lo came out on stage again to join Will.I.Am in singing "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)" This unique performance had glow in the dark dancers, was that Fighting Gravity from America's Got Talent? I believe so! This was by far the best performance of the night.

LMFAO closed out the show with their party hits "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy And I Know It" which turned into one big boxers and bras party on stage.

I loved when the AMA's showed a flashback of some classic, memorable old school Diva clips that included Mariah Carey, Tina Turner, Madonna, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson from the 80's and 90's. This made me think...wow, music has drastically changed and not so much for the better.

My Pick: You can see in Taylor's face she was totally surprised that she won this award. I thought there was going to be another Kanye moment during her speech, but she made it through.

This category is hard, a lot of great artists, but I'ma go with Gaga on this one.
