Rapper Beanie Sigel Awake in Hospital After Getting Shot in Torso Earlier

Dwight E. Grant also known as Beanie Sigel was involved in a shooting earlier this morning outside of a home in Pleasantville, New Jersey.

Sigel was shot in the torso after an apparent fight outside, next to the home where he lives. The bullet hit his stomach and traveled out of his back... oh my gosh!

The Philly rapper had just returned to his house after dropping his kids off at school when he came upon the altercation near his house. 

According to reports, Sigel's attorney believes the rapper was not the intended target. This fact isn't verified yet and investigators are still sorting things out. 

Sigel was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He was sedated and reported to be in critical condition following that procedure. According to Associated Press, Sigel has since awaken after his surgery. 

"The family asked that the hospital not release any information on his condition," a spokeswoman said (via: AP)

Sigel used to be a part of Roc-A-Fella records which was run under his former boss Jay-Z. He was just released from prison in August after serving two years on tax evasion.
