Rap Pioneer Phife Dawg Dies From Complications With Diabetes


Malik Taylor, the rapper known as Phife Dawg, who is from the legendary hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest (with high school classmates Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad), died Tuesday at the age of 45 from complications resulting from diabetes, according to multiple reports.

The rapper had health issues for years, undergoing a kidney transplant in 2008 to deal with a longtime battle with diabetes. He passed away at his home in the San Francisco Bay Area.

News of his recent death swept over the internet late Tuesday night leaving the hip hop community and fans in shock.
